Products - Skype Hardware Add-ons This page is for misc. hardware add-ons for Skype. Speakerphones:Radian SkyTone RST201The RST201 is your typical looking desktop phone. This is a USB connected phone and so gives you the look and feel for desktop needs. One advantage of this phone is it has a built in speakerphone and works better than the VoSky or USR speakerphones. The software is not as Skype enabled as i would like, but I figure that will come in time and improvements. You will need to look at your screen to place Skype calls, but for a corded telephone you have to sit at your desk anyway so no real disadvantage. All in all this phone is not bad for a desktop phone with speakerphone capabilities.
Pros:
Cons:
* Special note: If the software and phone buttons were more 'Skype enabled' as we call it, then this phone would get a '5'. This telephone also works with GoogleTalk, Net2Phone and Xten/Vonage softphone. PolyCom Communicator Speakerphone
PolyCom has a speakerphone device that is probably better than the less expensive retail versions available by USR and VoSky. A speakerphone needs to be good and have solid sound quality without a 'tinny' tone and have good volume adjustment. This device is portable and connects via USB.
.
US Robotics USB Internet Speakerphone
The USR USB Speaker phone is designed as a hands free speakerphone that you connect to your PC or laptop. No drivers are required. We found the sound quality was tinny and we found the volume too low to be very useful at home. SkypeTips rates this a - 12345 (Windows only)
VoSKY Chatterbox
The Vosky (formerly Actiontec) Chatterbox is basically a hands free Speakerphone you connect to your PC or Laptop. This might be good for a laptop and hotel calls, but we found the volume too low to be very useful at home. Nice size for traveling and it is in my laptop bag.
August 2005 MPLAT Flash Phone F1K USB Thumbdrive PhoneThe MPLAT F1K USB Flash drive Phone or thumbdrive as I call them, is a 100 Meg USB Thumbdrive with everything you need to make Skype calls including a 2.5mm headset jack. It even comes with a typical earbud/microphone. You can also use your typical Cell phone headset with this unit. For those who travel and use other computers and want Skype with you, this is a cool accessory for the traveling Skyper. You load Skype onto the device in the proper directory and all your settings and contacts will be stored on the flash drive. You just plug it into an Internet connected PC and start making Skype calls. You can also store up to 90Meg of data on the unit as well, so it is a fully functional flash drive. These are cool little devices ! Price = $49 US SkypeTips rates this a - 12345 (Windows only) * Special note: This is a cool little accessory that lets you carry your Skype in your pocket when you travel or use multiple computers like work or consulting. Nice stocking stuffer for your Skyper family and friends. June 2005 Siemens Gigaset M34
To
enable the Internet telephone function, the Gigaset M34 USB comes with
the respective software from Skype*. Just connect the Gigaset M34 USB to
your computer. It will pass the telephone signals from the Internet on
to your Gigaset S645, Gigaset S440/445 or Gigaset C340/345. So you can
make calls with your Gigaset S44 or Gigaset C34 handset instead of a
headset and enjoy perfect quality of service.
